What is Monetizer?

Videoplaza Monetizer is a video ad server. It can be compared with banner ad servers such as Doubleclick’s DFP and Adtech’s Helios with the difference that it’s made for managing, preseting and tracking ads in and around video content.

I already have an ad server, why do I need Videoplaza?

All of our clients use display ad servers parallell to Videoplaza. Managing advertising in and around video content is quite different from display/banner advertising. Therefore, display ad servers are struggling to help publishers monetise their video content properly. Videoplaza Monetizer is from the ground up built to solve the ad serving challenges in and around video content.

Who is Monetizer for?

Monetizer is best suited for large to medium sized media companies with an ambitious ad funded online video offering. Monetizer also requires the client to have an in-house ad sales team.

How much does it cost?

The pricing is mainly based on CPM reflecting the amount of ads served/exposed. Contact us for details.

What video players / platforms are Videoplaza compatible with?

Videoplaza is compatible with any Flash based video player. We are currently pre-integrated with 15+ video players / platforms in Europe such as Brightcove, Ooyala, JW, Flowplayer etc. Contact us for a full list.

How do I integrate into a player that is not already pre-integrated?

We will assist you in inserting and implementing our adplayer plugin code into your video player. It is only a small piece of code required. The plugin loads and plays the ads.

What are the benefits of a plugin architecture?

How long does it take to implement?

Depending on which kind of video player you use, the implementation time varies. If you use one of the video players where our technology is preintegrated, it could take as little as 5 minutes. For integration into your custom built video player, the work required should have you up and running within two weeks.

How do you treat short and long form videos differently?

Short and long form video consumption is different and should therefor be monetized differently. Monetizer can help you setup different ad policies based on content length.

What are tags and flags?

There are many ways you may target your advertising in Monetizer. The most extensive way to do this is to use tags. Tags are meta data about the current video clip. It’s basically keywords like “sports”, “golf” or “pga tour” that describe the clip. The tags are fed into you Video Content Management System (ie. Brightcove) and extracted by Monetizer. When you launch an ad campaign you may choose to target specific tags to add relevant ads to the right clips. You may also divert some ads from specific tags in the same manner.

Flags are parameters you can set in the video player for certain clips to modify the ad serving. For example you might want to remove advertising completely for a certain clip or remove only prerolls.

Can one account have multiple sites supported?

You have one or more video players connected to your account and have them distributed over the web as you like. You may target your advertising by having an individual tag for each player.

How about ad networks?

We support 3rd party ad serving via the industry Standard VAST. We don’t sell ads but can help you find the right network. We work closely with all major ad networks in Europe and can often help our clients chose the right partner.

Which ad formats do you support?

Our main ad formats are linear video ads (preroll, midroll, postroll), non-linear Videoplaza ads (overlay) and companion banners. Read more about ad formats in the Online video ad guidelines set by the IAB UK.

The ads may be interactive and contain multiple levels of engagement. For a detailed introduction to our ad formats visit the showroom.

Can we work with any other ad format than the ones included in Monetizer?

Our client API allow you to create virtually any ad format you’d like. This includes the possibility to create your own built in tracking and reporting features.

Why do you allow ads to be closed?

This is optional for each client setup, and not a must. If you’ve seen it, it’s because our clients prefer it this way. The person viewing the ad must see the it the first time the video is played. If he replays the video, the ads come with a close button. It is a less intrusive way to advertise and sometimes a way to be able to run longer prerolls.
